Stunning DT work

June 03rd, 2009 | Category: DT Projects and Ideas

Here is the first of our DT work for June, from Kirsty, using the Days Gone By kit.
I’m sure you will all agree with so many beautiful things in the kit, Kirsty has created a couple of stunning LO’’s.

From Kirsty  “Oh I am a little in love with this kit…so ‘vintagey’ and gorgeous…I think I would buy it for the delicious plum trim on this LO alone!!!”

You can purchase this kit here.

Card # 2 – Gift Card

May 22nd, 2009 | Category: DT Projects and Ideas

Our second card is a great idea to use when giving a gift card.  We hope you enjoy creating it, and the project sheet will be available to download shortly.

Designer’s notes: This card has a gift card/cash pocket on the inside of the card and the bright colours and patterns of the Lime Rickey range make it perfect for kids’ birthdays.

Materials list:

May Card Kit.

Additional items:  I have used scallop border, circle and corner rounder punches to create this card however you can replace them with whatever punches you have on hand or may choose not to use them at all.

Step 1.

Trim the red cardstock to 25cm x 15cm and fold in half to create a vertically opening card.

Step 2.

Step 3.

To create the inside pocket, trim a piece of patterned paper to measure 16cm x 15cm and fold in half lengthways.  Apply double sided tape along one edge and fold to fit inside the card.

Use another piece of patterned paper to cover the inside lefthand side of the card and the extra piece of the pocket which acts as a support.  Use a circle punch for the opening of the pocket.

Step 4.

To embellish the outside of the card, trim a piece of patterned paper to measure 11.5cm x 10cm, round the corners using a corner rounder punch and adhere to the front of the card slightly to the right.

Step 5.

Trim 2 strips of patterned paper approximately 12cm in length (to fit across the width of the front of the card) and 4cm in height.

Step 6.

Create a scallop border along one edge of one of the strips and adhere this to the bottom of the wider strip, then adhere to front of card.  Add the sentiment to the patterned paper strip using alpha stickers

Step 7.

Handcut 3 birds and adhere to the left hand side above the sentiment using foam tape.

Thanks for joining in.  We’d love to see the cards created using our kits.  Please feel free to load them to the card creations section in the gallery.

Thanks Tanya for tonight’s instructions.  Love the cards !!

Card Class – Pop Up Card

May 22nd, 2009 | Category: DT Projects and Ideas

Welcome to tonight’s card class, using our May Card Kit with BG Lime Rickey papers.  We will be showing you how to create 2 cards tonight, and if there’s any questions please leave a comment and Tanya will respond when she can.
We hope you enjoy the class, and a pdf project sheet will be available later tonight with all the step by step instructions on it.

Now, let’s get started with our first card.

Tanya says: “This is a fun pop up card which would be great for that special occasion or kids’ birthdays.”

Materials list:
May Card Kit.
Additional items:  black inkpad, stamps, white cardstock

Step 1.

Trim a piece of white cardstock to 22cm x 16cm and fold to create a horizontally opening card.

Step 2.

On the fold line, mark the centre, then mark 2cm each side, up & down and each side, left & right.  You will end up with a 4×4cm square in the middle of the fold line.

Step 3.

Cut along the vertical lines only, then fold it inward.  This is the fold that pops up when your card is open.

Step 4.

Create the inside of the card.  Gather your supplies – I have used the flower rubons on white cardstock and cut them out, along with two of the birds from the pp and a semi circle to use as the background.  Adhere your pieces to the semi circle and then add your sentiment.  I have used stamps.

Step 5.

Adhere the sentiment piece onto the pop out fold as shown. The inside of the card is now complete.

Step 6.

Cover the outside of the card with a piece of patterned paper

Step 7.

Trim a piece of patterned paper and add the sentiment using the alpha stickers.  Adhere this to the card.  Finally, handcut another bird and semi circle and ink the edges of the circle.  Stick this to the front of the card to the right hand side of the sentiment using foam tape.

First up, Chloe, with  4 fresh and fun cards

You can download project sheets for Well Done and Hooray, in our downloads section.

And here’s Krissy’s fabulous work

So many different ways to use the same kit !!  Sorry the cards are a little small, photobucket wasn’t liking me too much today :(
You can download Krissy’s project sheets in the download section (top of blog)

Our card kits include enough patterned papers and cardstock to make between 4 – 6 cards, as well as all the matching embellishments.  Ranging in price from $14.95- $18.95, again you certainly get value for money with these kits.
Our June sneek peeks for our card kit will be available laterthis week, so keep watching.  And make sure you pre order quickly as they have been selling out rather quickly the last couple of months :)

Tanya’s cards are a surprise as we will be holding our monthly card class with Tanya on May 21st.  Class is free and will be here on the blog.  Hope you can join us.

Cherry Cola Soda Kit – Budget Busting

May 19th, 2009 | Category: DT Projects and Ideas, General Info

Here we are again, with more ideas for using our May “Cherry Cola Soda Pop” Kit.  This time we are showcasing the very talented Nicole Pomeroy.  These papers are so bright and “larish” that they might scare some people from using them.  Nicole has created some super work, and a project sheet is available for “2 of my 3 babies” further down.
Again, 4 LO’s have been created using this kit, valued at only $24.95.  Great value !! and the papers and embellishments co-ordinate, leaving you to happily create.  Our Cherry Cola Soda Pop kit was filled with the new BG Lime Rickey papers, as well as the Sass Lass Anthem range.

You can download the project sheet for “2 of my 3 babies” here

2 of my 3 babies

and here are the instructions for those that may be unable to download the sheet

Materials list: May Enchantress Kit, other: chippy numbers and bracket (I’ve used Basic Grey Lime Rickey) thread, ink, butterfly stamp, tree and bird sticker (I’ve used American Crafts stickers), black pen

Getting Started: My photo is a landscape 5×7

Step 1.

Cut a piece of Sassafras Lass PP from the kit to 9×3 inches, freehand scallop two shorter ends. Doodle around edges with a black pen. Attach to the bottom right corner.

Step 2.

Cut a piece of the purple lace paper from the kit to approx 8 inches long. Attach this along the bottom of the LO approx 2 inches up. Add a funky edge off one of the Sassafras Lass papers, attach this to the underside of your photo so you allow the edge to show. Attach your photo to your LO, using the photo for placement.

Step 3.

Create a funky tree but cutting a trunk and branches from the green cardstock out of the kit. Doodle around the edge. Place this on top of the scalloped journaling block, doodle around the edge of that too. Attach this to the side of your photo. Adhere the smaller tree from your kit over the top of the larger tree. Place a tree sticker or rubon so it’s overlapping both trees. Add a bird sticker/rubon or stamp on the larger tree. Scatter buttons from the kit around the base of the trees, stitch in place.

Step 4.

Adhere your title in place along the left hand side of the photo and along the bottom of the photo. Place a chipboard bracket up in the left hand top corner of the LO and add your journaling underneath with a black pen. Use a butterfly stamp and add a couple of butterfly stamps

More ideas for both the Home Run and Cherry Cola Kits will be available soon

Here’s what Kirsty has created this month.  And don’t forget to download the project sheet for “Costume”.

Kirsty says  “These WRMK stamps in the kit are awesome, just awesome! They stamp SO clearly, and are such versatile images! I worried first cause I thought they were ’sporty’, but they can be used on anything! Love them!”
