Creative ideas & Mini Project
Our DT have been extremely busy this month, and have some great tips and projects for you to try yourself.
Distressed Circular flowers are all the rage right now, and here Melissa shows you how simple they are to make – and very effective too !!!
Step 1 Using circular punches or hand cutting, cut out 4 circles of various sizes
using different patterned papers.

Step 2 Set out your circles.

Step 3 Distress the edge of each circle

Step 4 Scrunch up each cirlce then unfold – leaving more “distress lines” across each circle.

Step 5 Sand across each circle. The sandpaper will add further distress to the fold lines. To add more
dimension you can ink lightly.

Step 6 Once all the circles have been distressed, layer them from largest to smallest.Place foam tape
between each layer to give added height.

Step 7 Once all layers are stuck together, finish your flower off with a button or brad.

Step 8 Adhere your flower to your layout or card!

For variations you can add exta ink to each layer, embellish with paint or bling or add layers of fabric or tulle!
Quick, simple and fun !! It’s a great way to use up scraps too
Why not try creating this stunning LO by Marni?? All the details for this mini project can be found below. This LO was created using papers and embellishments from the February Warlock kit.

Designer’s notes: This layout is all about space, it’s pretty much a mini layout on a piece of 12×12 patterned paper. I love Polaroid’s so I wanted to do my version of them on this layout as well to help tell the story without overcrowding it.
Materials list: Warlock Kit. Extras: buttons, date stamp, little letter stickers, scalloped cardstock date stamp.
Getting Started: Crop three photos into squares. My photos are about 3×3.
Step 1.
Cut the piece of scalloped cardstock into three. Discard the middle piece, you can use this for another layout. Adhere the top and bottom pieces together to create a wide skinny piece.
Step 2.
Attach the piece of scalloped cardstock to the patterned paper allowing the left hand edge to hang over the patterned paper and then trim this edge off.
Step 3.
Matt the three square photos on green patterned paper and adhere in an overlapping manner in the middle of the scalloped cardstock over the join. Place enough buttons on either side of the photos to cover the join in the scalloped cardstock.
Step 4.
Place one of the file folders under the photo on the left and add some journaling inside it.
Step 5.
Lift the right side of the scalloped cardstock and place the bulldog clip on the top right edge. Tie a piece of ric rac to it.
Step 6.
Add a rub on to the bottom corner of the left hand photo and stamp the date inside. When I first stamped the date inside the rub on it did not go on correctly so I stamped it a number of other times to mask my mistake.
Step 7.
Finally to finish the layout add your title. In this layout I emphasized two words by using the American Craft puffy stickers and then added the rest of my title using little letter stickers.
